Press Conference Day

Today was finally the day to use all the flowers I've been working on for the past week! One of the press photographers who came was taking pictures of my flowers before the thing actually started, so hopefully I'll get to see those eventually. But for now here's an overload of pictures from my camera.

What an exhausting project! But they were a hit. I got tons of compliments. I should've held a tip jar.

Garden! Finished!

Take a good look at these, because this is a project I will never do again! I couldn't have finished on time without Megs, Nick, Yvonne, Whitney, Doug, and Justin! Thanks, friends! We finished at 5:01 today. Amazing. They finally get to be used on Thursday and then who knows what will happen to them. At least they'll get some press since its for a Press Conference. Local media and such should at the very least have them in a picture, ya know, off to the side or something. Woo! haha.

 Unfortunately, you can't even tell from the pictures how many there actually are. I'll take pictures when they're set up on Thursday, and that will be the end of flower posts for a very long time. Tomorrow, I'll post something completely unrelated to flowers. Two things even. Promise!

I'll be finishing these tomorrow, so I promise I'll post other things soon! But for now, it's the only thing on my mind. At least I'm making progress!

Almost a Garden

Yesterday I worked for nearly 7 hours on nothing but wire flowers. If I'm going to meet my deadline, I've got to do the same today. For the first 4 hours its really not so bad... then I realize I'm a one person factory. I watched the episode of Big Band Theory the other day where Penny starts a business making hair clips and gets a 1-day express order for a thousand of them, so all the guys help her assembly line fashion while singing laboring songs... yeah, I want that.

Eighteen down, thirty-two to go. Two days to finish!

I've still got to shape all the flowers to give them some life, and add stems, and make grass, and add the center details, but hopefully I can do that last part fairly quickly. Wish me luck!

Wire Flowers and More Cakes!

Yesterday I was sick all day, but still managed to go to work and bust out some flowers! I've got to finish 50 of these by Thursday, but luckily I've enlisted some help.

They're going to be bright and summery and assorted colors. My prototypes were both hot pink because that's what I happened to have at my desk. They are really simple to construct, too. Just wire, tissue paper, glue stick, and chopsticks for stems.

Those will be what I work on for most of the weekend.
As for today, I made 5 more cake chair covers, and will be cutting letters and candles for the rest of the evening. They get to make their birthday party debuts tomorrow! I can't wait to see them surrounded by balloons and the like. Very festive.
